Prospective Students


The Master of Arts in Regional Integration targets talented and motivated applicants with a passion for and commitment regional integration and global governance.  The M.A. program is an interdisciplinary program intended for students from within and outside East Africa intending to pursue a career in policy-making and governance in regional organizations in Africa. Students are equipped with knowledge and tools for policy development and implementation in regional organizations. The program offers courses drawn from the fields of political science, economics, law, and public policy and administration. Students also get the opportunity to meet and engage academics, researchers and practitioners from several research institutions, governments , NGOs, and regional organizations.

 Admissions Requirements

  • A Bachelor degree with a minimum of Second Class (Lower Division)  in law, political science, economics, history  or any other relevant discipline 
  • work experience of not less than 2 years in areas relevant to Regional Integration;
  • A Postgraduate Diploma from an institution of higher learning recognized by the University Senate can also be accepted

Dates and Deadlines

Application Deadline: July 31st every year. There is only one intake, in August

Financing Your Studies

The expenses at IRID require a substantial financial commitment from the student and the IRID. Students are therefore advised to start their financial planning several months in advance.

IRID currently offers limited scholarship opportunities to prospective students. The scholarships are funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). The deadline for DAAD scholarship applications is March 15th of every year.
