CUEA Student Excels in Japanese Speech Contest

 Tchineesehe Annual Japanese Speech Contest was held at the Embassy of Japan in Nairobi, on 22nd March 2014. This year, The Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA) was represented by Ms. Cynthia Murimi, who made an excellent speech, in Japanese, entitled “the meaning of education”. There were fourteen contestants from various universities, such as Daystar University, Kenyatta University (KU), Strathmore University, Kenya Utalii College, and United States International University (USIU).

The Centre for Social Justice and Ethics at The Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA) in partnership with Alliance of Religions and Conservations (ARC), launched the book “Stewardship of God’s Creation: A Catholic Environmental Toolkit for Catechists and Seminarians” on 21st March 2014, at CUEA’s Lang’ata Campus. The Launch was preceded by celebrations to mark the World Water Day.

CUEA and JKUAT Moot Court Competition

mootcourt2The Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA) won the finals in the Inter-Faculty Constitutional Law and Human Rights Moot Court Competition, between Jommo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), Karen Campus and CUEA on 7th and 14th March 2014, at CUEA's Upper Campus. The Judges of the Moot were Hon. Justice Stephen Githinji, from Naivasha; Mr. Elvis Michieka, Principal Magistrate Kikuyu and Mr. Duncan Okubasu, Lecturer CUEA.

Miss CUEA Fundraising Initiative for Needy Students

miss cuea 2014Doreen Gatwiri, Miss CUEA 2013/2014, held a fundraising initiative to raise funds and donations in kind for needy students on 12th March 2014, at the University cafeteria. Ms. Doreen called upon CUEA staff and students to support needy students in the University by giving various donations in kind through the Dean of Students office.

Community Service Week 3rd to 8th March 2014

comm serviceThe Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA) marked its 30th Community Service Week from 3rd to 8th March 2014. The theme was “Education for Transformative Leadership in Africa.” The climax of the celebration was a fun filled day with activities ranging from aerobics, a community walk, youth mentorship talk and children’s fun fair. The day was also an opportunity for the entire CUEA fraternity to come together with their families and share their talents.

Righteous Care of The Human Body Through Dress Code

dresscodeThe Chaplaincy office in collaboration with the Dean of Students office, hosted the Righteous Care of The Human Body Through Dress Code seminar on 27th, February 2014, at Missio Hall. It involved presentations of best essays written by students from different faculties in the University. The essays were written under the following sub-themes: traditional perspective of dress code, religious perspective of dress code, human perspective of dress code and economy of dress code. The guest performance was from Kenyan gospel artist Ms. Gloria Muliro.

Students General Assembly

studassembyThe 2013/2014 Students General Assembly took place on 26th February 2014. This assembly was a culmination of various faculty student assemblies held in the 2013/2014 academic year. The highlight of the assembly was an interactive open forum where students were invited to freely share various challenges that they encounter on campus and present them to the University’s management team.
