Catholic University Monks progressed to the finals of the KRU Nationwide league with a 35-23 win over Kisumu RFC at the RFUEA Grounds on Saturday April 23, 2016. They will now play USIU in the final.

In the semifinal, Monks opened the scoring through Bremmer Namisi’s penalty that had a quick reply from Kisumu through Byron Ogada who converted back-to-back penalties.

Namisi scored another penalty to bring Monks level and were rewarded again through Ted Owino’s try that was converted by Namisi.

Kisumu were losing on almost every maul and poor kicking and Monks added another try.

This win puts Catholic Monks in a good position to qualify for the 2016/2017 Kenya Cup season.

On April 16, CUEA Monks beat South Coast Pirates 15-8 at Ukunda to enter the semi-finals.

CUEA Monks played in Kenya Cup in the 2014/2017 season and getting a chance back would be no mean feat.

They will play USIU in the finals at the KRFU grounds on Ngong road, May 7, 2016.

We congratulate the team for this win and wish them success.
