CUEA Awarded in The University of Oxford’s Monroe E.Price Media Law Moot Court Competition

CUEA’s Kivindyo Munyao won the 2016 Jonathan Blake Spirit of the Competition Award during the 9th Annual Monroe E. Price media Law Moot Court Competition held at The University of Oxford on 28th of March to the 3rd of April 2016.

The Faculty of Law had sent a competitive team comprising of Alexander Mwendwa Munene, Dennis Munene Njiru, Kivindyo Munyao and Madam Freda Kabatsi, the Faculty’s representative whereby Kivindyo emerged the winner. The award is given to the most: spirited, prepared and dedicated participant. Moreover, the award gave all the four CUEA students an opportunity to apply for the Ceil Rhodes scholarship and if it goes through, they will get a chance to pursue their Masters in Law degree at the University of Oxford.

The competition established by the Programme in Comparative Media Law and Policy at the University of Oxford in 2008, aims at developing and cultivating interest in freedom of expression issues and, the role of the media and information technologies.

The organizers who are from the University of Oxford showed interest on the possibility of opening talks with CUEA to make the University hosts for East Africa regional rounds.
