Enthronement of the Divine Mercy Statue: Bishop’s Homily

On Sunday, April 3, 2016 the Rt. Rev. Dominic Kimengich, the Bishop Catholic Diocese of Lodwar celebrated Mass at the University to enthrone the statue of Divine.

The Divine Mercy Sunday comes immediately after Easter week.

On 30th April 2000 Pope St. John Paul II canonized St. Faustina as a saint in the Catholic Church during the 2nd Sunday of Easter. Since 2000, the second Sunday of Easter has also been known as Divine Mercy Sunday in honor of the merciful heart of Jesus that our Lord wanted to be known through St. Faustina.

In 1930’s, our Lord Jesus Christ appeared to St. Faustina Kowalska, a young nun living in a convent in Poland. The Lord told her “… to do whatever is in your power to spread devotion to My mercy… tell aching mankind to snuggle close to My Merciful Heart, and I will fill them with peace”. Jesus also requested that an image of Him be painted and that it be venerated around the world. Our Lord told St. Faustina, “By means of this image I shall be granting many graces to many souls, so let every soul have access to it.”

The statue has been erected on one corner of the AMECEA grounds and faces Gate B directly.
