Wild Hearts of the Savannah is a story about five inseparable childhood friends - Farah, Qaiz, Kamran, Asad and Ronan. It is a novel about friendship between the main protagonists and a story of love - Qaiz's unrequited feelings for Farah and Farah's inexplicable attraction towards the enigmatic Shahmiran from Britain. It is a story of fate; how Farah and Shahmiran are drawn further towards each other as together they face a dangerous enemy. It is a story of adventure, set in the beautiful backdrop of the wild African outdoors and has been inspired by factual incidents.

The author was motivated and inspired to write by the achievements of her family members. Ferzana notes her paternal grandfather served the British army in the Second World War and so her father Shakoor grew up at an army camp in Nanyuki and was a great narrator and storyteller of different experiences and events which inspired her. In addition her father had a passion for hunting in his yonder years and exposed his children to a lot of outdoor safaris and activities, including trekking, camping, game drives, fishing, bush life and much more that has formed a platform for Ferzana’s writing.

Ferzana says that her maternal grandfather the late Mohamed Sadiq Cockar, was a pioneer surveyor at Mombasa- Nairobi road in 1926. His writing and sketches have been influential in the creation of this novel.

Ms. Ferzana started writing when she was a student in her final year at CUEA! The exposure and education at the university widened her horizons as a writer and enabled her to create this novel.

She has attended many trainings on writing and has tailored the novel to suit current trends; the novel is very dynamic and follows a new style and approach to writing. Ferzana also launched her personal website on www.ferzanacocker.com and urges all her fans to look up her pages for more info on the novel.

She said that there is a suggestion to make her novel into a movie for which The Catholic University of Eastern Africa has shown a keen interest to support this drive.
