The department of Moral Theology hosted the launch of a book on Rev. Prof. Laurenti Magesa.

Endless Quest: The Vocation of an African Christian Theologian Essays in honour of Laurenti Magesa is edited by Prof. Jesse Mugambi and Evaristi Magoti.

Prof. Jesse Mugambi was present to launch the book as the publisher and was hosted by the Dean of the Faculty of Theology Rev. Prof. Constance Bansikiza, the head of Moral Theology department, Rev. Dr. Richard Rwiza, Rev. Dr. Emmanuel and Rev. Prof. Magesa.

Speaking at the launch Magesa noted that in his theology career spanning 40 years, he has been shaped by a number of things. These include the love of reading, ongoing reflection on issues and ideas, perseverance, commitment to the values of African Culture and his admiration of the Catholic tradition.

He said that to write is to have a conversation with oneself and urged all present to always write and save what they write, ‘You will see it’s wisdom later’. He further encouraged those present saying that one’s work may not be immediately appreciated but they should not be discouraged.

Prof. Magesa added that in a world faced by many challenges, ‘Theologians can make a difference’.

Present at the launch were other members of various faculty from CUEA, faculty members from Tangaza University College, Hekima college and some students from the Apostles of Jesus seminary.

The 18 chapter book contains articles written by other scholars on Magesa’s contribution to African Theology in the various aspects.

The book is published by Acton Press and is available in leading bookshops and the various universities that Prof. Magesa teaches.
