The Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops Meeting

catholicbishopswkshpKenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB) held a joint meeting for Education Secretaries, Catholic Schools Principals and Education Advisors on 3rd April 2014 at The Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA). The Guest of Honors were Rt. Rev. Paul Kariuki, Bishop Embu Diocese and Rt. Rev. Maurice Muhatia Mukaba, Bishop Nakuru Diocese in Kenya.

The forum was mainly held to bring together all Catholic schools in Kenya, to celebrate their achievements, discuss their challenges and plan ahead in ensuring that they continue to provide quality education which is a key resource given to a person in today’s challenging world.

“We pride ourselves in academic excellence and holistic growth as key elements of Catholic identity. In fact parents consider religious values and character formation to be the key reason for choosing Catholic schools. Catholic schools are about creating small Christian communities which are meant to mirror the values of the home and the Church,” said Rt. Rev Muhatia.

Also in attendance was Ms. Agusta Muthigani, Education Secretary, KCCB; the Vice Chancellor, Monsignor Dr. Pius Rutechura, and Sr. Dr. Jacinta Adhiambo, Senior Academic Officer, CUEA. On the same day, the Bishops also presided over the community Holy Mass held weekly at the University on Thursdays.
