The CUEA Annual Sports Festival 2014

sports 2014On 22nd and 23rd February 2014, more than twenty universities, colleges and secondary schools in Kenya took part in The Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA) Annual Sports Festival at the Lang’ata campus. Strathmore University emerged as the overall winner; CUEA secured second position while Egerton University took third position. The various sports activities that took place include: karate, rugby, basket ball, volleyball, lawn tennis, soccer and hockey.

In the same weekend the CUEA rugby team “CUEA Monks” scored 17-12 against the University of Eldoret rugby team, in the quarter-finals stage of the Rugby National League. While on 1st March 2014, CUEA Monks beat Kakamega RFC 39-7 in the Rugby National League semi-finals automatically qualifying them for the Kenya Cup and Eric Shirley leagues.

1.Karate, Ladies: 1st Position CUEA.

2.Karate, Men: 1st Position University of Nairobi.

3.Rugby, 1st Position CUEA; 2nd Position CUEA.

4.Basket ball, Ladies: 1st Position Strathmore University; 2nd Position Kenya School of Law.

5.Basket ball, Men: (Match to be replayed).

6.Volleyball, Ladies: 1st Position Strathmore University; 2nd Position Kabarak University.

7.Volleyball, Men: 1st Position Strathmore University; 2nd Position, St. Thomas Aquinas Seminary.

8.Lawn Tennis, Overall Winners: Egerton University.

9.Soccer, Men: 1st Position Egerton University; 2nd Position Presbyterian University of Eastern Africa.

10.Hockey, Men: 1st Position; Egerton University; 2nd Position CUEA.
