Publishing Your Research Workshop

confThe Faculty of Education held a one day workshop on Publishing Your Research on 7th February 2014, at The Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA). Professor Sagini Keengwe, Associate Professor, Department of Teaching and Learning at University of North Dakota and Prof Gary Schnellert, a Full Professor of Educational Leadership in charge of Doctoral Cohorts at the University of North Dakota, USA, were the key facilitators at the workshop.

Speaking at the workshop the DVC Academics, Prof. Justus Mbae, stated that if we are interested in the quality of our output as a University, we must focus on research and publication because that’s how we disseminate what we have done. He observed that “We need to benchmark with others who have made it there. We have to learn how to do it and how we can move from where we are to where we want to go.”

“Writing is a form of sacrifice, it does not come easy for anyone who wants to write, but you do it because it can impact others. Begin by reading widely and set aside time to write.” Says Prof. Keengwe. He called upon the participants to publish their research work, because it will be available to both local and international audience. He further cautioned the participants to be keen in following any instruction given to ensure successful publishing of their research work. According to Prof. Keengwe, avenues to publish include: journal articles, book chapters and authored and edited books.
