Orientation for new students in the January 2014 Intake

openingdayjan2014New students accompanied by their parents, guardians and sponsors took part in the General Orientation, on 7th January 2014, at the University’s Pope Paul VI Learning Resource Centre Auditorium. The Library Orientation took place on Thursday 9th January 2014, while the Dean of Students Orientation took place on Tuesday 14th January 2014.

“You have come to a Community of Life.” Said the DVC Administration, Rev. Prof. Juvenalis Baitu. Speaking on behalf of the University Vice Chancellor, Prof. Baitu asked the new students to embrace the University’s family values which include; Witness of Life, Prayer, Truthfulness, Honesty, Excellence, Commitment and Competence.

In a warm welcome remark, the DVC Academics, Prof. Justus Mbae observed that when new students at The Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA) take full control of their lives, that is called responsibility and freedom. “Know your destination, take your direction and remain focused.” Said Prof Mbae.

The University Chaplain, Rev. Dr. Charles Kyallo, stated that Education is integral to the mission of the Church to proclaim the good news. He called on all the new students to be active participants in the Eucharistic Celebrations and in the various spiritual movements present at the University, to ensure their holistic growth as individuals.

Speaking at the orientation the Dean of Students Mr. Gideon Maina, asked the students to be part of the CUEA community and make their stay at CUEA part of their life journey. Mr. Maina emphasized that as new students, they should be aware of what is expected of them as stipulated in the student’s handbook.

Giving his closing remarks, the University Registrar, Mr. Odilon Dizon Jr. congratulated the new students and wished them a fruitful and successful stay in CUEA. Mr. Dizon reminded the sponsors, guardians and parents to actively play their part in their son’s or daughter’s lives throughout their study at the University.
