Academic Convocation 14th August 2013

academicconvocationThe Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA) Academic Convocation took place on 14th August 2013, at the Pope Paul VI Learning Resource Centre. Most. Rev. Peter Kairo, Archbishop of Nyeri Archdiocese, joined the members of the CUEA community to celebrate the Holy Eucharist at the beginning of the new academic year.

“We are called to witness Christ in our community, ministries and in the society. It is this spirit of God that is going to empower us to be holy as we study here in CUEA, and help us to be committed in our various responsibilities as teachers and students. We are not only here to be formed but to be informed”. Said Most. Rev. Peter Kairo.

Welcoming all to a fresh start in the new academic year, the Vice Chancellor, Msgr. Dr. Pius Rutechura highlighted some of the achievements in the previous academic year 2012/2013. This includes: the inauguration of the year of faith; full operation of the Pope Paul VI Learning Resource Centre (LRC); the opening of CUEA’s Nairobi City Campus, and the development of the IBM Reach Lab Africa.

In the new academic year, the Vice Chancellor emphasized on the importance of mainstreaming of ICT in the education system, the implementation of the 2012/2022 strategic plan, developing of income generating activities in all departments, conforming to the Quality Management System (QMS), and the need for students to adhere to the University’s values and code of conduct.

“We thank our guest of honour, staff members, students and affiliate colleges for participating in this occasion. I wish you blessing and success and that you may be consecrated in the truth.” Said the Vice Chancellor.
